Judith Kashtan

APA Assembly Representative
Judith F. Kashtan, MD

Faithful readers of this newsletter are familiar with my background, so I will not bore you a long repetition. In brief, after training in Detroit and Boston, I moved to Minnesota in 1984 and have been in private solo practice ever since. I specialize in psychotherapy as well as forensic consultation.

I have served as MPS Councilor, chair of various committees and President.

I am a member of the APA Public Affairs Committee and am in my second three-year term on APA’s Finance and Budget Committee.

Over the past four years, I’ve represented MPS in the Assembly. I have had the opportunity to get an up-close view of how things get done nationally and how resources are allocated between national and local issues.

I have been a vocal representative for MPS in the Assembly. I have introduced action papers advocating for more efficient governance and for APA support of MPS projects. Whenever I have had the opportunity, I have pushed for the Assembly to stay focused on the needs of the District Branches. I have pushed for the APA governance to be fiscally prudent, inclusive and fair to all members. I have also served as a liaison, connecting MPS with national resources and leaders who can help us work on improving access to care, forestalling psychologist prescribing and making our lobbying efforts as effective as possible.

I appreciate the opportunity to continue to represent the interests of MPS members and our patients in the Assembly.
